We are offering a Japanese sniper scope for your Type 99 rifle. The Type 99 scopes were the larger format 4x power and made up until the last part of the war. Our Original 4x type 99 scope was made by one of the Japanese scope contractors...Takatihio..based in Tokyo. They were awarded a small contract for only 1000 Type 99 scopes...and their assigned contract number started with #11, 500 ..Out Takatihio scope has the early contract number of #11525..so a very early Takatihi...o made scope. The scope on the backside has the rifle issue number #9902...so was issued very late in WW2. It is interesting to note..the after serial #9900...and continuing until #9999..many of the scope were 4x adj scopes..and we know that production was slow making the latewar 4x adj scopes...so a few of the rifles after #9900...were issued the 4x fixed power scopes like this scope...Also to add to the rarity of this scope..there is a small #59 stamped below the rifle issued number..and again..in the milled "cavity" opening in the "reverse". Also please note that under the Mfg. Contract number..#11, 525...there is the final inspectors stamp..in a small square ....we have rarely seen this stamp on most of the 4x scopes were have had over the years....so this scope was issued ..inspected and looking at the remaining condition of the scope..used in combat...in 1944-45. We were surprised to see much of the original paint still intact...and that optics are very clear..great grid lines..and just a few..very..very small "specks"...and none around the grid lines. Only a few of the 4x Type 99 scopes have been offered at auction..and we think their will be collectors that have their smaller...Type 97 rigs complete..but not their Type 99 snipers. We all know that adding the correct Type 99 4x scope to your Type 99 rifle..we greatly increase the value of your sniper rifle...as well as making in now complete..just like it was when issued.
