1908 Carlisle & Finch No. 10 Model RR Switches - - Fair To Good Cond
Item History & Price
Condition: Both wood and metal switches are used – one switch is in good condition, and the other switch is in fair shape: there is no original box or package…there are no accessories, just the two switches…both switches were originally green in color, but the color has faded over the years…the left hand switch is in good shape, and is fully functio...nal, but has quite a bit of surface rust – the outside curved rail has some missing brads – the metal rails are intact, but show quite a bit of oxidation, as does the operating mechanism – there is a knot on one edge of the wooden base, which has partially separated from the rest of the base (the split measures about ¾” in size) – there are also two nail holes in the base, one on each edge in the center – there is a 4” crack on the bottom of the wood base, but this base is composed of one piece of wood; the right hand switch is in fair condition, as the actuating mechanism for moving the tracks has been bent and needs to be realigned – the pivot has partially rusted away on one side, but the switch is still functional – the rails show surface rust, but are intact – there are some small chips on the edge of the wood base on one end – this base is composed of two pieces of wood joined together at the factory – this base has 3 cracks, one is about 8” long, one is about 4” long, and the third is about 2” long (they are mostly visible on the bottom).
Description: These wood and metal switches were made by Carlisle & Finch for their #4 Railroad set…these switches will not work with the #25 locomotive or cars…each switch measures about 15” long by 6 ¼” wide by ¾” thick (counting the rails and the mechanism – the wood base is about ¼” thick)…these switches are number 2 gauge and made for the strip type track – it will not work with the T-rail…NOTE – due to age, these switches are sold as-is, with no returns.
Notes: With some work, here’s some vintage switches ready for your layout!
