Up for auction is a stunning doll from Madame Alexander ca. 1945. She is one of the Bridesmaids in the 1945 Wedding Party for the Wendy Bride. This gorgeous doll is the 21" size, has the wonderful Wendy Ann face and is all composition. She is dressed in the yellow bridesmaid outfit that is complete and just gorgeous! The composition is exquisite with hardly a craze line present. I cannot find any in the body of the doll, and maybe a faint line or two in the face if yo...u really look hard. No cracks or splits. I did have to restring her gently since her stringing was so loose she couldn't hold a pose. Her facial color is all original and is beautiful. Her beautiful brown eyes are clear, open and close easily, and she has all her eyelashes and eye shadow. Her mohair wig is in all original set with lots of original curls. The fabulous yellow gown is so bright and yellow. There is a tiny snag in the bodice and one tiny little hole in the back of the left puffy part of the sleeve. Other than that, the dress has no holes or stains and is just such a beautiful color. When I got her the two ribbon bows were missing from the front of the dress. I was able to obtain 1940's vintage French satin ribbon and make the two replacement bows. I did not permanently sew them in place, but used a safety pin from the inside of the dress in case you want to remove the bows. But, they are very secure and you can choose to leave them if you wish. I think they really make the dress special. The dress has an attached yellow satin slip in good condition. Underneath she has on pink panties that have torn in the crease where the leg and hip meet, which I've seen in lots of panties. The shoes look mint. The wonderful muff has matching flowers to the flower adornment in her hair. What a wonderful early doll to display proudly in your collection! Ive shown a picture from the 1981 Madame Alexander book "Dolls on Review" by Uhl for you to see.
