Antique Russian Stockinette Doll, hand made, former Soviet Union, it is thought that these dolls were a cottage industry of some kind, promoting the great Soviet Union's many ethnic groups, probably to show the vast glory of the union, this lovely woman is certainly Siberian, and probably Yakut / Sakha people, from Yakutia, the largest region and ethnic group in Siberia, I do have an old photo of a Yakut Woman wearing similar clothing that I can send on request, she is dressed in a red... and blue coat, the ivory sections are faded blue, knee high black boots, a hat trimmed in "fur" but it appears to be raw wool, metal discs on the chest and tassels of the hat, stockinette is used on the molded hand painted face and her gloves, added detail to the front is twisted hide, soiling, fading, wear, possible missing parts, but I can't find another example to compare her too, the approximate size is 14.5 inches tall, #1018The shipping quote is for the continental US only.Tracking and Insurance is included.I do reduced shipping for multiple items.Allan Arthur Oriental Rugs and Tribal Arts
