Vintage Mattel 1964 1060 MISS BARBIE Doll Sleep Eyed - Head & Wig RARE
Item History & Price
The Miss Barbie doll was introduced in 1964 and was rare for the time as she was the first doll with bendable knees and the only doll with eyes that would open and close. She had a molded head with an orange band and 3 wigs on a wig stand. The back of the head is... marked “ Copyright M.I.” The original torso was marked 1958 Mattel. Her head is easily identifiable by the marks on the upper side of her forehead which are melted plastic due to the wigs being left on too long.
The Miss Barbie doll is considered highly collectible as she was only available for one year. At the time, her movable eyes were considered scary and the doll was removed from the market.
Condition:Very good vintage/antique condition. Eyes open and shut easily with no sticking. Color and condition of eyes is excellent. There appears to be a small crack behind each ear.
