It's a Dark Chocolate Brown Color / Colored Salt-Glazed Style of Miniature Whiskey, Whisky, Whiskies, & Rye = A Pre-Pro / Pre-Prohibition Type of Liquor Distillery / Distilling Co. / Distilled Spirits Co. Jug...It is a proprietary promo / promotional sample size complimentary Victorian Era Ovoid adv. piece...It reads: THE CORNER GROCERY 4TH & OHIO... STS RUDGELEY BROS PROPRS, Terre Haute, Vigo County. This chocolate gem came from roughly 1 block from the County Courthouse (not far from the Wabash River)... On Aug-16-20 at 09:09:06 PDT, seller added the following information:Its scratched in cursive handwritten advertising is shown in ALL CAPS, in the above description text. To prevent any confusion or potential disappointment, extensive research by myself & its previous owner = My mentor: Tom (Brad) Feltman, who sadly passed away over a year ago of Asbestos Cancer, we learned that the only City with a 4TH & OHIO STREETS intersection, IS Terre Haute, Indiana (Vigo County Seat). This location (empty lot?) is roughly 1 block from the County Courthouse & rather near the Wabash River! Further confirmation of this business history should be found in the County Library reference records. The Federal Census Records concerning the "Rudgeley" surname (there) will / should alleviate any remaining doubt of this jug's origin (unless they were Union Civil War deserters, or if there had been a records fire)...
