DELIGHTFUL SMALL ENGLISH SALTGLAZED STONEWARE MUSTARD POT ALBERT & VICTORIA 1838
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:355307 | Style: Mustard Pot |
Original/Reproduction: Original | Age: 1800-1849 |
Country/Region of Origin: England |
This is a very rare little mustard pot celebrating the marriage of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. There are superb relief portraits of the young Queen and her Consort on either side and on the front the royal coat of arms with lion an...d unicorn supporters.
The pot is only 3 1/4 inches tall and it has three holes pierced in the top to accommodate a silver lid. The handle is in the form of a whippet or greyhound. The pot is unfortunately damaged (see especially photos 5, 6. 9 and 10 in the sequence) with two breaks in the handle and a V shaped break in the neck with the top of the handle in the middle - a fine candidate for professional restoration. We are selling this very rare item WITHOUT RESERVE!!
A great addition to any collection of early saltglaze or English royal memorabilia so don't miss this one in the final seconds!
