Here is a plate made by Sterling china in East Liverpool Ohio for the Roberts at the Beach restaurant near San Francisco. The scene commemorates the feat of Blackie the horse swimming across San Francisco Bay in 1938 as the result of a wager between the restaurant owner and a race track owner. Blackie was 12 years old and took a little over 23 minutes to swim across the bay. There are no cracks or chips and the glaze is in good condition.Buyer pays for shipping
