Offered for sale is this antique Gildea & Walker Staffordshire soup tureen in their beautiful Melbourne polychrome transferware pattern. I have some more Melbourne pieces listed separately and I discount combined shipping. Please excuse the reflections in the pictures.
The tureen is just over 13 inches long from handle to handle, and is just over 8 inches tall.
There cover has a chip to the inner rim that goes down into the tureen, there a a broken section on t...he rim that has been glued back in place, and there are 2 very short faint hairlines on the rim - the tip of the pen is pointing to these. There are 2 firing flaws (or possibly hairlines) on the body of the tureen. There is a very faint hairline by the ladle opening on the lid. There is some crazing and light age discoloration. Please see the close up pictures.
Printed and impressed Gildea & Walker marks on the bottom as shown.
