Description
A beautifully and intricately carved 19th century Chinese Qing dynasty sandalwood picture/ photo frame.The frame consists of three oval openings for picture portraits with carved columns and capitals surrounding them, with a large phoenix bird sitting on each outer column. The upper section is profusely carved with a foliage matrix of lotus tree blossom and phoenix birds, in the centre of the upper section is a carved medallion with five robed figures one on horse back a...nd one being pushed  in a chariot wheelchair.At the very top is a small pointed medallion with two robed figures one holding a book.
Condition
In excellent condition for age, there are a couple of areas of minor loss which are hard to see, and there is a small corner section at the base that has been glued back on in the past, you can see this in the last photo.
