Pictured below is an excellent mid-century modern mosaic box in brass and glass tile designed by Salvador Teran, Mexico, circa ‘50s. The handmade box features an abstracted, stylized design of a woman in profile holding a star over her head. The glass tiles range in color from various shades of blue, to black, white, grey, red and orange. Brass pieces are interspersed throughout the design, and the box stands on four rounded feet. This is a sizeable, heavy box – its quality and cra...ftsmanship are excellent – with great stylized lines and a terrific combination of colors.Measurements: The box measures about 10 ¼” long, about 4 ¼” wide, and stands about 1 5/8” tall.Condition: The piece is in very good used vintage condition, with some surface signs of age and use, some darkened, aged patina to the brass, but no missing tiles or detractors.Marks: It is signed on the bottom with impressed marks, ‘HANDWROUGHT, HECHO EN MEXICO, Salvador [in script], 428.’ Please see my other auctions for more mid-Century modern design, vintage decorative pieces and jewelry.
