Vintage Russian USSR Kirov Nesting Doll, Matreshka Set of 11, 1980s.Beautiful set in great condition. I purchased it in 1980s and it was always display stored, I tried to keep it out of sun light.
This Nesting doll is a wonderful example of Kirov Matreshka made in Kirov town. This town is close to Semenov town that is a center of Russian nesting dolls. As every town or village craftsmanship, Kirov's nesting dolls are as colorful as Semenov's. At the same time they have distinc...tive differences: Kirov Matreshkas always have orange "carrot color" hair and large, solid black eyes. Brows are strait and small red mouth often with a thin, black line separating the lips. Sometimes they decorated with straw or wheat geometric inlays, Semenov dolls never have such decoration.
