DESCRIPTION:This auction is for a vintage Martha chase toddler Doll who measures 25" tall. Martha Chase dolls were used in the Hospital medical profession in nurses training, many were made with pierced nostrils and ears for this reason. In the 1930s and 1940s the stockinette formally used was replaced by vinyl cloth. This doll has molded painted blonde brush stroked hair, a sweet face with oil painted blue eyes, a white accent dot to the side of each pupil. He has "pierced nostr...ils and pierced ears", painted blonde eye brows, paint loss on tip of nose, he has molded slightly open mouth. Body is together intact with some wear, a heavy weighted body, over 4 lbs. He has tab-joints at his shoulders and hips and individually stitched fingers with separate thumbs. He may have had a label at one time but if so it is gone, I do not know his past history or exactly when he was made, I will say vintage. Wears off white vintage gown with embroidery trim and safety pin closure at the back, there is a full slip, stockings and knit booties on his feet, no undies. Wears vintage bonnet on head with blue and pink flowers. This is a wonderful old doll for a collection or display, not perfect but a Treasure! I have taken plenty of photos.
