This is a fantastic absolutely beautiful antique English original mahogany and oak 8 day bell striking longcase clock with all the features you would like to see from a top quality cottage grandfather clock. This is mid 19th century longcase clock by F Johnson of Lincoln all in full working order and all original with dial, movement and case all belonging to each other
The case has a split arch top design to the sliding removable hood with a hinged glazed door which protects the original painted dial with carved turned pillars to the front corners, at the top of the hood there is a large bronze cherub boy figure. The case also has a stunning patina and colour to the mahogany and oak which can only be acquired through age with the trunk door having its original lock and key The mahogany and oak case has a absolutely beautiful patina and colour to it which can only be acquired through age and looks stunning as i am sure you can see from the pictures. All the decoration looks to be original with only the usual age discrepancies that you would expect to see and all adds to its authenticity and history
The clock benefits from its original 16.5 x 12 inch arched hand painted dial with roman numerals, to the centre you have the sub seconds dial and to the corners you have the hand painted shell decorations, the arch has a hunting scene design with the rider on horse back and the dog catching a fox. The dial is in great original condition with only very minimal age wear and is signed by the maker F Johnson of Lincoln
The clock benefits from its original high quality brass 8 day bell striking movement with anchor escapement, the movement is of 8 day duration driven by its weights and pendulum, the movement is in full working order keeping time and striking as it should as you can see in the video above
