Recently I attended a wonderful estate sale that contained all manner of very early antique treasures. Included was a small collection of whimsical Staffordshire figural whistles. Here is one of four that I will be listing. This is a c1800’s Staffordshire porcelain pottery whistle in the form of a little lady holding a fan! The tiny woman is fancifully dressed for a stroll about town; a hat perched on her head, and rows of ruffles on the skirt of her walking suit. The piece is glazed... all white, save for her simply painted facial features. Measuring just under 3” tall, the whistle has a molded hole in the top in order to blow the small noisemaker. The bottom is hollow and has a metal piece glued in whereby the air passes through to make a shrill call. This antique toy is in very good condition! The only wear I can see is that the left blue painted iris of the eyeball is rubbed off. She leans slightly to one side. There are no chips! Any irregularities you may see are just how it was molded. If you don’t have a little lady for your Staffordshire whistle collection, here’s your chance! In the last picture I show the other Staffordshire whistles that I am in the process of listing. These other items are not included here, but can be seen in separate auctions. Please take a look, keeping in mind that I am happy to combine shipping whenever practical. If more than one item is won, please be sure to ask for, and wait for, a revised invoice combining shipping before paying!
