For sale is a pre-owned Elgin Direct Read Jump Hour 'golf ball' mechanical watch, likely produced in the mid 1950s
10k gold filled bezel and upper case, stainless steel case back. Elgin 717 mechanical movement, 17j.
Original golf ball-style upper case with cone-shaped time display window in good to very good condition; a number of light surface scratches throughout, but well preserved overall.
Hour and minute display disc in very good condition. Elgin-signed gold pla...ted crown.
10k gold filled bezel and upper case and stainless steel case back with a number of light surface scratches, but well preserved overall.
Bezel and lugs in good cosmetic condition.

This Elgin is winding, setting and running well and keeping good vintage time(ca. -45sec / day, based on recent 72hr time check).
It comes on a new brown leather strap with neutral stainless steel buckle.
Measurements are ca. 30mm in diameter excl. crown, which would be regarded as an unisex'- size today; in its time it was marketed as a men's model.
Ca. 35mm lug-to-lug.Lug width 16mm.
Please note that most vintage watches are smaller than contemporary models.
Men's watches marketed in the 50s and 60s regularly featured diameter sizes between 31mm and 35mm, while 36mm -38mm diameters were considered 'oversize' or 'jumbo'.
