Illinois Bunn Special Model 9 21j RR
Item History & Price
Dial: Nice Montgomery-style single sunk dial that was used only in high-end Railroad-grade pocket watches. Note chips in a couple of places are not visible when the bezel cover is installed.
Hands: Black, spade type
Case: Illinois 16 size, open face, screw-back-and-bezel, fancy dress or more likely railroad case! Etched picture on the back and initials of the likely first owner. The perplex crystal has no visible scratches. The back and bezel thread up easily, screw on and off smoothly, and both seat tight. The matching original crown's fluting is crisp and well-defined for a tight, sure grip, and it turns freely. The watch is lever set, so the stem should not be normally retracted. It should only be retracted during servicing to allow for the removal of the movement.
