You are viewing a very cute little antique letterpress type set, which is nearly complete. I believe that it is complete enough to use in most cases, please view the pictures to determine yourself. This set was made pre-1900, with a Patent date of 1885.
The type shows some use, as might be expected. I am unsure of the font point size. Please see that I have put a quarter in a couple images for scale.
The sale includes a small, wooden-handled stamp.
The mahogany case is q...uite sturdy, and the latch fastens tightly.
The type feels harder than lead, I would guess it was steel, but I can't say for sure. I am not sure if this qualifies it as foundry type or if it is something else.
I believe this set has life left in it.
It's a great curiosity piece to put on your desk.
