Antique/Vintage 1390-B Random Noise Generator from General Radio Company (1963?)
This item is in terrific condition - it is only being sold because the university physics lab it came from was cleaning up for a remodel. It has been tested and works well.
The 1390-B random noise generator provides high levels of electrical noise over three selectable ranges, 20 kHz, 500 kHz and 5 MHz. The generator uses as noise source a gas tube, type 6D4, operating in a transverse magn...etic field. It includes a noise multiplier to amplify the noise by factors of 0.0001, 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, or 1. There is a high noise setting and a low noise setting.
Input voltage is 105-125 V AC at 50-60 Hz.
The voltage of noise may be altered using the output control knob. This machine includes adjustable legs to raise the front panel into a tilted-back position for easier use.
Additionally, this unit includes five vintage/antique vacuum tubes:- Amperite 3-4 Ballast- Sylvania 6D4- Amperite Delay Relay 114NO3OT- Sylvania 809- Sylvania 844
This unit is wonderful for testing all sorts of high-level electronics and for teaching in physics/electronics lab settings. Alternately, this is a great teaching resource for learning about vacuum
