Yankee Doodle with Uncle Sam illustrations attributed to Thomas Nast (not listed). Published by McLoughlin Brothers circa 1870. Part of the "Aunt Louisa's Big Picture Series". Color illustrated pictorial wrappers. Softcover. Contains story in verse illustrated with six full page chromolithograph color plates, printed on one side only. Quarto Demi size of 9-1/8" x 10-3/4".
Condition: Wear, soiling & staining to covers, illustrations & text-bl...ock. Later resewing of the spine. Cover is holding on by a small section only. Chipping to covers. Margins of plates and text pages worn and lightly chipped but printed areas intact, some foxing. Tear on last illustration reaches 1/2-inch into picture. Paper for illustrations was higher quality than the text pages, so they show less damage. See photos for best evaluation of condition.
