Size tall narrow folio 41 by 16 cms (16 by 6.3 inches)
Description
An old pencil note on the flyleaf describes this ledger as a 'Lawyers Account Book' and that seems to be correct.
The pages are not numbered and I estimate there are at least 300 leaves, all hand-written on both sides with each page fully covered and no blank leaves
Each entry consists of a reference number followed by two surnames and the amount of cash received stated in the end column. The totals for each page are carried forward to the next one with the weekly balance given on a Tuesday.
The heading on the first pages states: 'To cash rec'd by Instalments'
The entries are in two different hands, one very neat, the other less so. However all the entries are clear and readable
The binding is contemporary full suede with marbled end-papers
Condition
Most of the backstrip is missing, the covers are worn and a bit shaky but they are holding firm and the book block is sound.
