Here we have a nice example of a Vintage Fish Decoy, out of La Crosse Wisconsin, (or Minnesota), 1920's or older . 5 3/8" long, natural wood all over, at a later date, abstract paint has been added by the fisherman to enhance the beauty, and of course its attractor qualities. Red and orange abstraction on back and sides, orange fins, and cream belly. Beautifully carved gills and dainty mouth. Steel fins, including tail, which is rare, with very heavy lead ballas...t set into the belly. The front fins and at least one of the wire ties is set into the lead, the back fins are nicely passed through the body, and crimped-over. Appropriate patina for its age, including old enhancing fisherman paint..
