Up for auction is a set of 3 Antique Leather Bound books titled "The Works of Sydney Smith" 2nd edition printed in 1840 by Longman, Orme, Brown, Green, and Longmans in Paternoster-Row London. All 3 have some of the light brownish stains of moisture but just at the beginning blank front pages. Volume 1 has wear on the leather and hardboard and the corners have some of the very ends missing but just a little. Volume 2 has wear also on the leather and a little on the har...dboard but the corners have not as much wear as the other 2 and pages are in good shape, volume 3 also has wear on the leather and the front lower corner also is missing a small end and the hardboard is worn. BUT this is a nice together set that does have some wear but overall in pretty good shape for being 1840 printing. So I would say a nice set to have and imagine they are scarce as a set.
