This budget dress is very colorful and stylish. It is a Vogue creation dating back to some time between 1954 and 1956. You can see a similar dress on page 140 of Barbara Clark's, The Colorful World of Ginny. Instead of a red sash at the waist like the one in the book, this dress has a blue sash. I did wash this dress, and in doing so, the blue dye in the ribbon waist sash bled a little bit into the white waffle weave bodice of the dress. I had to use some ...bleach to get the blue dye out of the white fabric. There could be a hint of blue left, but you would really have to be looking for it to find it.
I didn't worry about washing the dress. Although it maintains some of its original stiffness it has obviously been washed multiple times before. I know this because the Medford tag sewn inside the skirt is somewhat deteriorated. That's one way I know about wear in a dress. But what do you expect after 65 years??
