They don't get much lovelier -and more wearable- than this...
This exceptional gown comes in a pale celadon or celery green color. The entire piece is constructed of semi-sheer gauzy cotton batiste, with the bodice containing a boned under structure (dress may have had a skirt liner at one point, but it is no longer present).This bodice understructure is made of a lightweight, undyed cotton fabric with five stays/boning sewn in and a small bit of silk net mesh a...t décolletage/neckline. The outer dress has 1/2 to 3/4 length sleeves with upturned cuffs. Waistline is rushed (gathered) and tacked at front and back, and the skirt has an interesting upturned gather stitched at the center. Ivory colored machine embroidery is present throughout dress, especially at center front, cuffs and hem. Shoulder seams have a cotton piping insert finish, and the back skirt of dress has a center flap emanating from the waist line. The dress contains lots of quirky little details like many home-made/boutique-made dresses from its time. Inner dress has cotton tape inner belt, hook & eye plus snap finishes, and the outer dress has a left shoulder snap set closure, as well as hook + eye closures at waist. The overall condition is exceptionally good, and wearable, with a few flaws to note; left shoulder and sleeve have sun bleaching/color lightening, very light yellow stains at upper neckline, one pinhead-sized rust stain at left back shoulder, a few pinhead sized holes unrepaired throughout, many larger holes repaired throughout, some seam repairs and re-tacking. No labels or maker's marks present. Dress is in a very wearable, modern size, please check measurements below and/or reach out for more.
