The title page reads in part :  "The Manuscript Receipt Book and Household Treasury. Fifth Edition.  Philadelphia: Claxton, Remsen & Haffelfinger, 624, 626, & 628 Market Street."It is a ruled blank book for recording recipes, with sections labeled Soups, Fish, Meat, etc., also sections labeled Potting and collaring.Over a dozen pages have hand-written / manuscript recipes written in sepia ink.The book measures 8 1/2 X 6 1/2 inches; (8vo);  hardcove...r; brick-red cloth on boards with gilt stamped letters & decorations;  stains on front board; edges of boards & spine worn;  small indentation with tears on fore-edge of front board; spine ends frayed;  paper cracked along inner hinges but boards still securely attached;  small stains on a couple blank pages;  contents age toned;  256 pages.Please see all of the photos included with the description for condition and feel free to ask any questions. The book is a scarce publication.  There is only one other original printing of this Claxton edition available for sale on internet book searches (ABE, ILAB, etc...) which is being offered for $250.00.This is an antique printing.
