I have here for sale a book entitled THE NEW PANTHEON; or An Introduction to the Mythology of the Ancients in question and answer: compiled for the use of Young Persons to which are added an Accentuated Index, questions for exercise, and poetical illustrations of Grecian Mythology, from Homer and Virgil by W Jillard Hort. A new edition, considerably enlarged by the addition of 'The Oriental and the Northern Mythology'. Published in 1827 by Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown an...d Green, London. 15 b/w plates, including a fold out frontispiece one showing the Mythological Tree. The first part of the book covers some of the most well known gods of Grecian and Roman mythology, like Diana, Apollo, Jupiter, Juno, Mercury, Hercules etc. The 2nd part of the book covers Oriental Mythology - Paganism, Buddhism, Indian, Egyptian, Persian, Scythian and Celtic Mythology. Full black leather boards with gilt lettering to the front and spine. Spine also has 4 gilt bands. Worn to all edges but both boards are firm. Pages all clean and tight. 260pp inc index, 14 x 9 cm.Postage will be by Air Mail outside the UK. If there is more than one item then the postage cost falls for the second and further items as I will put them into one parcel - so you save money.
