VINTAGE 1989 BLUE SMOKING ROBOT W/BOX - BUT HAS ISSUES - MADE IN JAPAN

SELLING OFF MY SMOKING ROBOT COLLECTION AND OTHER ROBOTS!
Up for auction is a beautiful BLUE SMOKING ROBOT w/ BOX from 1989, believed to be made by Yonezawa in Japan with the original molds from the 1950's. I purchased this robot and the others from the original dealer in San Francisco back in 1989. This is not one of the cheap China versions! Toy was never played with, but placed on display inside ...glass case where he's been for 30 years, but he does have a couple of issues!
BLUE Smoking Robot is a little over 11.5 inches tall, and is a lovely shade of BLUE! He has no scratches, dings, or dents! Comes with his original box and cardboard inserts. Please look closely at all of the photos for details! Robot walks and lights up, but does NOT SMOKE! Once you put fresh batteries inside his legs, flick the switch on his belly to the left, robot is supposed to walk and swing his arms, then stop, his eyes will light up, and he is supposed to have smoke come out of his mouth! I put in fresh batteries, turned him on, and the Blue Smoking Robot started to walk, moved his arms, stopped, then his eyes lit up, but that was it. He has been sitting in a glass case for over 30 years, so maybe that has something to do with it. I was told back in 1989 that there were only 100 made of each color, but there is no number marking on the robot. The box is in excellent shape, and has all of the cardboard inserts. The box does say "made in Japan", and has the Yonezawa logo on the front.
As I mentioned, this Blue Smoking Robot has two issues: First, the smoking mechanism does not seem to be working! Once turned on I could smell something inside of the robot as if the smoking mechanism was trying to make smoke, but nothing came out of his mouth. So, this Blue Smoking Robot does NOT smoke! The other issue is that on his top see-through cap, one of the see-through plastic "tabs" that holds his top in place has fallen off over time and is missing. From what I can tell, these "tabs" were glued onto the bottom of the cap to keep it in place, and are not actually part of the cap. Please look closely at the photo provided. Again, I do not have the small plastic piece, but it does not affect the look of the robot and he can work without it. If you need to see more photos, please let me know. These Smoking Robots from 1989 were originally sold through Antique Toy World Magazine for only a few months back in 1989. I am selling off my entire set of Smoking Robots in other listings which include the colors: Gold, Black, Silver, Green, Blue, Chocolate Brown, and one with "no paint"! I am not a professional toy dealer, but even though this robot has issues I still think this Robot from 1989 is in fairly good shape! If you should have any questions, please ask BEFORE bidding! Blue Smoking Robot comes from a smoke free home (I know that sounds weird, but it's true).
