DESCRIPTION: This listing is for a novelty item produced by the Catalina Island pottery. It's generally known as the "siesta" ashtray, but also includes a pipe and match holder, even a cigarette rest. A Bud Upton design, it proved to be a popular souvenir of the island resort. This examp...le has colorful overglaze hand painted detailing.
DATE: 1930's
DIMENSIONS: 3.5" height by 7.75" length by 7.25" width
MARKS: Die-stamped: "CATALINA ISLAND" as shown (photo 11)
CONDITION: Excellent and very clean. Wear consistent with age but no chips or cracks or crazing. Rare to find one in such a beautiful condition.
