OCTAGONAL GERMAN WAR MONEY
w SOLDIER in STEEL HELMET & SWORD
This one of the finest and rarest of all German WW1 Kriegsgeld coins (emergency coinage forged in steel or other base medals due to the shortage of precious medals).
Dated 1918, the coin is octagonal in shape and displays the image of a nude muscular soldier wearing what was then a cutting edge innovation - the German Steel Helmet, which was adopted by the Nazis. He brandishes a large mag...nificent sword.
The Buy Now Price is for the 20 Pfennig Coin which does not have an embellished outer border. It is approximately the size of a U.S. Nickel. If you buy 2 pieces by selecting "2" in the Quantity Box you will ALSO receive the larger 50 Pfennig Coin!
The latter has an embellished outer border and is approximately the size of a U.S. Quarter.
Both coins remain in exceptional Extra Fine condition. They would grade AU but for a bit of edge wear.
Amazing century old WW1 coins from the heart of the Axis. Hold history in your hand!
