Offered here is a VERY FINE ANTIQUE PATENTED BACKSAW MANUFACTURED BY THE RICHARDSON BROS, NEWARK, NJ, WITH A UNIQUE EARLY HANDLE AND A BRASS MEDALLION THAT HAS A PATENT DATE OF DEC 21, 1869 CAST INTO THE BRASS DESIGN. This beautiful saw is marked on the metal stiffener: "EXTRA SPRING STEEL, WARRANTED" along with the manufacturer name and a maltase cross logo. The blade is almost dead straight and it has a 12 INCH SAW BLADE WITH 12 TEETH/PER/INCH (TPI).... This classic backsaw is in very good condition. The blade has a very tiny bow, the teeth are sharp...as found...and there are no kinks, rust or pitting on the blade, just light metal staining. This very fine, early, PATENTED RICHARDSON BROS.
