This is a listing for an early 20th century American Art Deco sterling silver ladies compact with mirror. The compact is oval and measures 2 1/2 by 3 3/4 inches or 6.3 by 9.5 cm; with the mirror it weighs 121 grams.The compact is has a smooth silver cover with a raised design at the center. The design has a butterfly floral design, feminine but nice. The back is engraved with a starburst style pattern. The front of the compact has a push button clasp and a hinge on the back. The inter...ior has a two compartments; the top has a place for a powder puff and then you can push the button on the side and the powder is kept underneath. The interior of the cover has its original beveled mirror. The back of the compact is marked "STERLING", it has been tested and is guaranteed to be as described.The compact is in very good condition there is some age appropriate surface scratches to the piece.
