Presented for your consideration this set six of antique mother of pearl handled fruit knives. They feature mother of pearl handles, fancy sterling silver collars with a scroll motif and silver plated blades. They were made in Meriden, Connecticut by the Meriden Cutlery Co. Marked M C Co and the number 12 as shown as well as STERLING on the collars. The Meriden Cutlery Co. was in business from 1855-1860's, the firm made mostly knives. They became a s...ubsidiary of Landers, Frary & Clark in 1866. The knives measure 5-3/4" long. Very good antique condition, considering the age. Expect stubborn tarnish and scratches consistent with age and handling. One handle has two hairlines and discoloration, but is holding firmly in place. There is some plate wear on the bolsters between the collars and the blades, see closeups. Also some black spots on the blades, see closeups.
