It proved to be a popular atlas with a number of editions up to an until this issue of 1880. Originally the atlas was issued with 47 maps, those of Scotland and Ireland present here were added at a later date. John and Charles Walker were well known engravers and publishers of the nineteenth century. References: Chubb (1927) 476 (this edition not listed). Looking at detailed carto-bibliographies, no examples of this 1874 edition are noted so a unique atlas.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side of the sheets, which are blank.
CONDITION: Good. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. Virtually all antiquarian maps and prints are subject to some normal ageing due to use and time which is not significant unless otherwise stated. Significant wear to the spine and the Moroccan leather corners. Staining to the front board. The maps are all complete and pretty much all in excellent condition, Hertfordshire has a small seam split down the middle. Overall a really nice example.
