For sale is an exceedingly scarce, original 1807 travel guide to New York City titled "The Picture Of New York Or The Traveller's Guide Through The Commercial Metropolis Of The United States" by "A Gentleman Residing In This City." Published in New York by I. Riley & Co. sold by Brisban and Brannan, City Hotel, Broadway. 223-page book is missing its original map, but is otherwise complete. A later facsimile map of the original one has been placed in the book. Covers and spine exhib...it moderate wear. Inside pages exhibit some staining/dampstaining (see photos), but are generally good. This is fresh to the market from the estate of a curator for the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Please see my other listings for more interesting New York material from the same estate up this week.
