A very rare mahogany 'Instantograph' by J. Lancaster & Son c 1900. This is a 1/4 Plate format of the 'Folding Instantograph' which is difficult to find, and I have only seen one other picture of this model on Google. The condition is very good , the leather bellows are looking a bit sad, however they do not appear to have any pinholes. The brass 1/4 plate lens is marked, - BESSUS Paris & London, and has clear optics and a good F stop iris 8 - 64. Like a tailboard cam...era the back panel protects the glass screen and is hinged to swing 270% to form a base for the front panel to rest on . The camera is then made secure by the tripod screw joining the two panels together. Another feature of the camera design which differs from the usual Instantograph is that the rear extension is by internal sliders instead of external, making the closed camera very neat and box like. The two Plate holders or double dark slides are by Talbot & Eamer yet fit the camera perfectly. POSTAGE, - UK, - £ 13 DHL Express. ALL EUROPE, - £ 25 DHL Express, Tracked.
