Art Deco Dunhill Table Lighter modelled on the F-86 Sabre Jet in Chrome.
This is the iconic classic example of a Dunhill table lighter and makes a most attractive item in your study, office or front room. It was purchased in 1958 by my Mother (for £5) for my Father as a present to mark his first Headship. As a Headmaster, this stood proudly on his Desk until he retired in the late 80's. I had admired it all my life as I grew up, and it was not until his passing that I actually ...found out that it was a Dunhill !!
Well time has moved on and it is now time for me to pass this on to someone else who will appreciate it and has a place to "Show it off" like it deserves!!
The Condition is still stunning considering its age and the Chrome has no peeling, chips, or cracks whatsoever.
The Dunhill 'Jet Plane' Lighter is depicting the famous North American Aviation F-86 Sabre a transonic jet fighter aircraft. The Sabre jet set its first official world speed record of 570 mph (920 km/h) in September 1948. Six years later in 1954 in England this heavy Dunhill figural lighter was manufactured. The production ceased in 1961.

The nose button opens the lighter smoothly (and very quickly) and it closes easily with a light press (no pun intended!) This item will not even need a service as this was performed by Dunhill themselves upon my Fathers retirement...... although this seems a long time ago, it has also not been used since, other than to demonstrate how it works to enthusiastic and amazed visitors to our house.
I will be sad to see this go, but it deserves to go to someone who can appreciate it themselves and give it pride of place where others too can marvel in its design.
You will not get another like this in as good a condition.
It is the perfect way to light the Occasional Celebratory Cigar!
