BEING A NOTE TO PROSECUTE THE WIFE OF EDWARD GRAY OF TIVERTON FOR SELLING A GILL OF RUM UNTAXED AND UNLICENSED TO JOHN COFF OF NORTHON AND THOMAS WHITE OF TAUNTON. Dated only twenty years after the 17th century concluded in colonial America, this original and genuine Bristol County, Massachusetts Bay Colony handw...ritten early 18th century American document shows two very interesting and peculiar aspects, one being the fact that a woman was selling rum, and the second being that the crime was jail for being an unlicensed rum dealer. It is dated Oct 2nd, 1719 and is signed by both complainants, John Coff and Thomas White.
7" x 6". Rare document in decent condition for age, some wear at the creases and edges, some staining and chipping along the top edge, as shown.
