WIRELESS ERA LOOSE - COUPLER CRYSTAL RADIO - - CRYSTAL/TUBE
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:4300697 |
Up for auction is a wireless era Loose-Coupler crystal radio receiver. This is an open "bread-board" type set and is an example of one of the first type radio receivers used in those early days. Tuning was accomplished by sliding the the smaller tuning coil in and out of the large...r coil, thereby changing the radio frequency which the set would receive. An extremely primitive device which radio operators had to depend on in the very early days of radio. There is also a crystal detector, complete with crystal and catswhisker , mounted on the board which many of these sets fail to include.
Please note that I have not tested this set and this set is sold in as-found and in as-is condition. It is being sold as a collectors item and there are no returns.
This Loose-Coupler crystal radio measures 16" wide x 5 1/4" tall x4 3/8" deep.
The wood surface of this set is in fair condition and reflects repairs made over its years of service and the general wear normally associated with a rare relic that is over 100 years old. This is an interesting piece of radio Americana that will enhance any radio collection.
