PYRITE & ARSENOPYRITE - - Akishin Claim, Washington - - Very Rare Locality Piece
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:43061330 | Featured Refinements: Pyrite |
The Ashikin claim(s) saw very little production from two adits exploiting a shear zone containing sulfide material with negligible amounts of copper, gold, lead, silver and zinc. The mineralization was lean and irregular. The specimen is accompanied by an in...formal label that incorrectly spells the name of the locality as the Ashikun. I could find precious little about this particular occurrence which suggests that it is a very obscure locality. The locality is not yet listed on mindat.org (the world's most comprehensive mineralogical website) and it is not mentioned in my copy of Inventory of Washington Minerals--Part II Metallic Minerals published by the Washington Division of Mines and Geology in 1958. When I get time, I will add a photo of this piece and will add the locality and published reference (USGS Bulletin 1542, 1989).
This piece shows brassy massive and coarse pyrite (with a few small and crude crystal faces) with darker arsenopyrite and sparse quartz. This is strictly a locality reference piece and will be priced accordingly.
Please check my feedback and my other eBay items. All specimens are carefully wrapped, come with complete and accurate labels and are quickly shipped. As always, your complete satisfaction is unconditionally guaranteed and I even offer FREE return shipping on any item that fails to satisfy for any reason---you can't go wrong. I'm reminded of the firm pledge printed on the old Foote Mineral Company mineral catalogs from more than a century ago,
"Quality of specimens is assured as we permit return of specimens at our expense."
