This auction is for a nice, larger, 10 1/4" fish decoy by listed Minnesota carver Jerry Matzen. Matzen fish decoys appear in the reference book FISH DECOY MAKERS PAST AND PRESENT and also in the book THE FISH DECOY, Volume 3. Jerry no longer lives in Minnesota and has made any decoys in quite a few years. This example painted in green with yellow and black frog spots and hammered brass fins. It has carved gills and glass eyes. It is in beautiful, original and never used condition with ...very normal and minor paint loss around the belly weight. The carver has signed the decoy on the bottom and the age is around 20 years.
