Up for auction is a pair of circa 1910 Sioux Quilled and Beaded Moccasins. The quillwork is in a circular pattern on the top of the moccasins. Very cool. It has some light beadwork along the top by the tongues. Split tongued. They have been stained with yellow ochre. There is some minor quill loss on both of the moccasins. It has trade cloth trimmings. Sinew and thread sewn. Outline of the feet can be seen on the soles. They have been worn. They will measure 10-1/2" long by 3-3/4..." wide by 3-1/2" tall. This piece is out of the Lutheran Reverend Ernest Von Kronwitter that was from Germany but was doing Missionary work in the Dakotas and other Indian Reservations in the early 1900's He collected these items and took them back to Germany before World War 1 broke out.
