Struthiomimus Tail Vertebra
This tail vertebra comes from the dinosaur, Struthiomimus Altus. The name Struthiomimus means "ostrich mimic", and this dinosaur lived up to its name. Struthiomimus had long hind limbs, a small beak, and a skull that was very similar to an ostrich. Struthiomimus grew to around 14 feet long and 7 to 8 feet tall as an adult.
The Struthiomimus tail vertebra was found in two pieces. The pieces were reattached and the fossil ...was then stabilized. The vertebra has some river tumbling wear. This Struthiomimus vertebra has nice detail and preservation with a dark brown coloration. All around a nice example of a Struthiomimus tail vertebra.
The Struthiomimus Vertebra measures: 1 3/16" inches wide by 2 1/2" inches in length.
This Struthiomimus vertebra was dug out of a microsite in the Hell Creek Formation of Carter County, Montana. The fossil was collected on private ranch land with the owner's permission.
