Ohio Founding Father General Nathaniel Massie 1811 Land Receipt Document (Capital of Northwest Territory and First Capital of Ohio 1803) . General Nathaniel Massie was instrumental in helping Ohio achieve statehood. He worked along side other notable figures in the movement such as Gov. Thomas Worthington , William Creighton Jr and Gov. Edward Tiffin . He was a Revolutionary War veteran . He was a General of the First Militia of the Northwest Territory and led troops for a short time i...n the war of 1812 before he died of pneumonia in 1813.
