American Motors Corporation (1970 - 1987) Security Guard Badge – NOS

Item History & Price

Information:
Reference Number: Avaluer:4361505Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
Original Description:
Condition status is "NOS" as this item was not issued and remains within the manufacturer’s protectivewrapper in an unblemished state of condition.
The American Motors Corporation was the successor tothe Thomas B. Jeffery Company (est. 1902), the Nash Motors Company (est. 1916), the merged Nash Motors Company and Kelvinator Corporation (est. 1914) in 1937;finally, AMC was created when the Nash-Kelvinator Corporation merged with theHudson Motor Car Company (est. 1909) in 1954; howe...ver, AMC continued tomaintain its primary automobile manufacturing facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
After the American Motors Corporation sold theKelvinator (appliances) portion of the company in 1968, it acquired Jeep from theKaiser Corporation in 1970; after forming a partnership with Renault (France), AMC was itself acquired by the Chrysler Motors Corporation in 1987 and was shuttereda year later in 1988.
This is the last American Motors Corporation SecurityOfficer (a.k.a. Guard) badge style that would be issued before the company ceased toexist when Chrysler created the Jeep/Eagle Division for the limitedproducts that remained; it’s hard to believe that 31 years have elapsed sincethat time.
The valuation is based upon the condition and previouseBay sales for this very same AMC Security badge that have ranged from $287.85in “good” condition (sold in 2018) to $374.99 in “NOS” condition (sold in 2017). Thestarting bid amount is actually the reserve for this badge; otherwise any potential bidders would need to incrementally increase their bids blindly towards an unknown.
Note: The "Buy It Now" price is identical to the NOS - AMC Security Officer Badge sold on eBay, more than two years ago, in 2017! However, as the "But It Now" price is only $87.00 over the starting bid amount, it will be removed on the fourth day (unless there is an active bid); thereby, removing the "maximum price cap" on this item.
Badge specifics:This badge was part of a very extensiveJeffery/Nash/Rambler/AMC/Chrysler plant security based memorabilia collectionbelonging to a now deceased collector and all information available has beenprovided; the visual images provide the best details.
The approximate dimensions are 2.5” in height by 2” inwidth and the weight is 1.8 ounces; though still sealed within the manufacturer's wrapper, the finish would appear to be nickel and manufactured by Blackinton as were all of the AMC security badges from 1970 through 1987. USPS Ship Cover insurance will be provided. On Jun-09-19 at 18:55:27 PDT, seller added the following information:Addendum to listing:The background story is that it was part of the very last badge and patch order that was made by AMC just before it was acquired by Chrysler. After the acquisition and under the direction of management, all AMC security department badges, patches and other uniform items were placed into storage as the transition to Chrysler identification was being implemented; which is the reason for its superb condition. These security related items were then acquired by the collector prior to the public auction of virtually all of AMC's assets in Kenosha on April 25-28, 1989. (Refer to image of auction booklet.)
