Here is a very Rare Amber Embossed GIN BOTTLE from what the seller believes to be CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. I Have Attached an Advertisement from the Rock Island Argus from MAY 23rd, 1873...(which reads....EDWARD BOSS & CO DISTILLERS OF THE CELEBRATED SWAN GIN 123 MICHIGAN AVE. CHICAGO, ILL....There are many ad's in the various papers showing the same advertisement....Could not find any indication of the word Plow....But seems Very likely that EDWARD BOSS was partnership with the bottle e...mbossed PLOW'S & BOSS SWAN GIN...This bottle stands 10" tall with an applied drippy long tapered lip and a slight kick-up on the base. The bottom is square and measures 2 1/8" x 2 1/8" This bottle is crudely embossed on 2 sides of the shoulder.....SWAN GIN.....PLOWS & BOSS....I dug this bottle a few years ago in an early 1860's-70's privy pit in Lower Michigan...I did not see any listing or reference to this bottle in the BOTTLED IN ILLINOIS EMBOSSED BOTTLES AND BOTTLED PRODUCTS OF EARLY ILLINOIS MERCHANTS FROM CHICAGO TO CAIRO 1840-1880....I have attached the advertisement with several photographs....This would make a welcome addition to your Chicago, Illinois Whiskey, Bitters, Gin, Medicine Bottle Display.
