Brand: Atwater Kent |
Here's a 1923 Atwater Kent 3955, better known as the Model 3. This a home-wired set, but it's an authentic 1923 breadboard radio, not a later made re-creation of one. It's built on a period (ie, ca. 1923) breadboard with original AK factory parts, and it's in very good condition throughout. It comes with three good emissions globe tubes -- a 300a detector tube, and two 01A amplifier tubes.
Pictures should tell the story. All parts are in good condition. Clean, glossy bakelite everywhere, with no damage, no haziness, no issues. No cracks or hairlines in the fragile backing plates. The wire on the tuners is still tightly wound, and the paint on the TA island is original, with normal discoloration and deterioration. All of the binding post nuts are present and in good condition. The wiring on the underside of the board is in good shape overall. A few of the solder connections are loose and need to be re-heated, but the wiring is otherwise sound.
Potting tar inside the TA island is original, and the AF transformers are original too. Each transformer has an open winding.
