I have a lot more pics of this that I wish I could post. I intentionally light to show all the wear and tear and character that you often don't see in glamour guitar shots. I have more pics of all the nicks and dings, the crazing, the sides of the body a...nd both sides of neck, and back of neck, and the neck joint with body. As well as pics of the truss rod nut, and the the jack plate, which I believe is original, but is cracked (for what it's worth, original ones are rarely still on otherwise all intact 50s Juniors.
So, the finish is all original. Again, oodles of awesome wear and character. It had non-original tuners installed at some point, but were apparently single Klusons as peg holes not modded. Repro three plate Klusons are back on it and totally cover the non-original holes. The pots are not original, but the control knobs and pointers are. The previous owner installed his favorite soap bar P-90 and there are two screw holes inside the pickup cavity where it was mounted. However, he retained the original "dog ear" P-90 and it has been reinstalled.
The beefy neck is everything great about a 50s Junior and more... The latter because the beautiful Brazilian rosewood has a fantastic refret.
The nickel wraparound tailpiece and posts are original. As is the pickup cover and pickguard. I believe the strap buttons are original, but who knows. The treble bout strap button screw is not original (probably stripped - very common - and just a longer screw). The truss rod cover is original. One of its screw hols and maybe a few tuner screw holes are stripped but still hold a screw, which again is very common. On of the two screw holes for the control plate on back is stripped, but original screw will be included (just figured I'd let the new owner decide what to do - for decades most people just shave off a little bit of a toothpick, drop it in, thread in screw, and move on - vintage guitars are filled with them).
Weighs approximately 7-3/4 lbs.
Neck is 1.70" wide at nut, 2.07" wide at 12th fret, 0.91" deep at 1st fret, and 1.00" deep at 12th fret.
Comes in my most fancy, plush, older Gibson case. I have lots pics of it, too. It's in excellent condition, except for some minor damage to the keyhole by the combo lock (neither of which I've ever used - the case has never been out as long as I've owned it, I don't know the combination and never futzed with it, and I don't think I have the key).
Really a great 1956 Les Paul Jr. Tons of character, both in appearance and tone. It looks completely original, and its playability is better than most vintage Juniors. It's ready to gig right now. I should keep it. And I might, if it doesn't sell fairly soon.
*Note about handling time: Due to extenuating circumstances affecting us all, handling time for guitars may be longer due to issues procuring shipping boxes. I will keep buyers updated.
