1987 Schecter USA Custom Shop S Series Vintage Electric Guitar Black
Item History & Price
The one-piece birdseye maple neck has a slender C shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder and gentle taper up the fretboard, measuring .780” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 12th. The slab ebony fretboard features large abalone dot inlay and pristine stock medium jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays well in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted truss rod and flat 14” fretboard radius, ensuring notes sing out clearly when bending. The scale length is 25 1/2”, and the nut measures 1 5/8“ in width, dimensions familiar to any Fender fan. The headstock features the iconic Strat shape with original black Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well, even with liberal vibrato use.
On the body, the electronics function as intended and the pickups and harness are ostensibly newer than the instrument. The black bobbin single coil pickups each measure 5.7k ohms. Hardware includes a particularly clean black vintage-style vibrato anchored by six screws, actuating easily for expressive warbles and dives. Plastic parts include a trio of parchment pickup covers, cream Strat-style knobs, and a three-ply brown tortoise pickguard. Cosmetic wear is limited to some requisite pick scuffing across the guard and some light scratches and marks on the gloss Black finish, mostly relegated to the lower bout body edge. The neck profile finish is clean and glossy, highlighting the birdseye maple figuring that extends the length of the neck and headstock.
A gigbag is included.
