Item History & Price
The urn shaped vase has been mounted with two elegant handles in the form the heads of a bird. The body of the vase has been hand chased and chiselled, combining these two different techniques to create an added dimension to the vase, with the higher relief design.
There are two stunning sc...enes on the vase. One portrays a young man and lady embracing each other as the man has his arms lovingly around the lady. The other scene portrays another young man and lady relaxing and drinking, as the seated young man is happily seated while the lady lady is pouring them a drink. These two scenes have been completed beautifully with extremely high attention to the detailing. The facial features, hair, clothing and surrounding areas have all been flawlessly completed by the master artist.
The surrounding areas around these two scenes have been completed in a higher relief with simply stunning animals among a beautiful textured landscape full of hills. There are lions hunting rabbits, beautiful exotic birds, sheep, goats, hares and rabbits as well as wolves too.
There are also floral panels among the animals with more finely hand chased floral work beautifully and delicately chased with the finest tools. The heads of wild lion-like beasts have also been hand chased into two panels . The base of the vase has been hand chased with very fine floral motifs and dense foliage.
This is a truly stunning vase with a huge height that will look fantastic in any collection.
It has been tested and is guaranteed to be high grade solid silver. I could not find any hallmarks or signatures but it has been tested and is definitely guaranteed to be high grade solid silver. Size The maximum height of the vase up to the top of the handles is 45cm.The vase weighs 1946 grams, so it is just under 2kg in weight.
The vase is in excellent condition - there is however a small area of repair around the base. It has been shown more clearly in the last two photos. You can see it from the underside, which is not very important - The main thing is, it is not very noticeable from the normal view while the vase is standing on a surface.
